A special Jizo statue was commissioned from local craftsmen to create a figure that would be cherished by people. After several prototypes, a Jizo statue with a gentle and warm expression was completed to be loved by all.

Hand-Carved Artwork by Yame City Stonemasons

Crafted by skilled stonemasons from Yame City, Fukuoka, who have a long tradition of sculpting stone lanterns locally. The artisans, familiar with the characteristics of Yame stone due to generations of stone carving, utilized their expertise to create a masterpiece that highlights the excellence of Yame stone.

Yame stone: Formed from Aso Volcanic Ash

Yame stone is a tuff produced in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It originated from the massive eruption of Mount Aso around 70,000 years ago, where volcanic ash solidified into sediment. Notable features include small yellow pumice stones and the presence of obsidian. Yame stone is soft, suitable for carving, and when placed outdoors, it tends to gather moss. Its porous nature results in numerous small holes on the surface, making it lightweight, fire-resistant, and cold-resistant.

Custom-Made Orders Welcomed

For those desiring larger Jizo statues or wishing to incorporate carved characters, individual requests are accommodated. Free consultations and estimates for personal memorial services are also available. Feel free to inquire through the inquiry form.
