A small hand-carved Jizo statue, standing at a height of 13 cm (5.12 inch), has been crafted. This one-of-a-kind piece is carved by a skilled Japanese artisan using the warm and distinctive Kimachi (Izumo) Stone from Shimane Prefecture. A special Jizo that will always be by your side, smiling warmly. Choose your favorite from the five available types.

Small yet Authentic. Delicately Hand-Carved Jizo Statue with a Gentle Aura

Smiling gently, this Jizo statue is a one-of-a-kind piece specially carved by an artisan for ISHIMO. Despite its small size of just 5.12 inch, the sculpture is intricately crafted. By incorporating this calmly smiling Jizo into your living space, you can experience a more relaxed and peaceful time.

Calming Atmosphere with Sandstone - Kimachi Stone from Shimane Prefecture

The brownish stone used for the Jizo statue is Kimachi Stone sourced from Shimane Prefecture. It is a tuffaceous sandstone extracted from the southern shore of Lake Shinji in Matsue, Shimane. Known for its gentle texture and stone surface, this stone is appreciated. The stone has dense particles, making it soft and easy to cut and shape, resulting in elegant and graceful pieces. Note that Kimachi stone is prone to moss growth, adding to its Japanese aesthetic. Over the years, when placed outdoors, it naturally acquires an aged appearance, blending seamlessly with its surroundings.

Hand-Carved Stone Sculpture by Shimane Artisan

The creation is handled by a stone artisan specializing in sculpture in Shimane Prefecture. Highly skilled in carving expressions of joy and serene faces, the artisan believes that as one becomes happier facing the Jizo, the sculpture reflects that joy in its gentle expression.

Artisan's Words

The stone Jizo is the mirror of my heart. This face, these gestures, this combination - I like it! It resonates with my heart. I create Jizo statues like this, where my heart is reflected, seen, and visible.
