A relief-style Jizo statue crafted using Shimane Prefecture's Kimachi sandstone, a unique hand-carved piece by local artisans. This Jizo statue, with a peaceful and calm expression, is suitable for a Japanese garden.

Gentle and Tranquil Relief-style Jizo Statue

Smiling with warmth, this Jizo statue is a one-of-a-kind creation specially carved by a Japanese artisan. With a serene expression and hands joined in prayer, it naturally brings a sense of calmness. Designed to harmonize well in Japanese gardens or your home garden, it features a natural and textured finish.

Using Calm-toned Sandstone from Shimane, Kimachi Stone

The stone, in a brownish hue, is Shimane Prefecture's Kimachi stone. Quarried from the southern shore of Lake Shinji in Matsue City, Shimane, it is a volcanic ash sandstone. Appreciated for its gentle appearance and smooth texture, the stone is fine-grained and soft, making it easy to cut and carve. Kimachi stone is prone to moss growth, enhancing the Japanese aesthetic with a weathered look over time. The product photos on this page show the item in its new condition. If you're curious about the current appearance, please inquire.

Hand-carved Stone Sculpture by An Artisan in Shimane

The craftsmanship is led by a stone artisan specializing in sculpture based in Shimane Prefecture. An exceptionally skilled artisan, adept at carving expressions that radiate warmth, such as a smiling and serene face. This artisan excels in crafting the gentle and peaceful countenance of Jizo. The more one engages with the Jizo, the happier and more benevolent the carved expression becomes

The back is also meticulously hand-carved.

Artisan's Message
