京都泉涌寺の雪見灯篭を本歌とする脚付型置き灯篭です。中台、火袋、笠はいずれも八角形で、脚がしっかりしており、重厚感のある造りになっています。
苔がのりやすく、お庭に馴染む愛知県産夏山石
日本で最も石彫刻が盛んな、愛知県岡崎市で古くから親しまれている、白御影石。岡崎市の夏山地区で産出されることから、夏山石（なつやまいし）と呼ばれています。
石質は御影石の中では柔らかく粘りがあるので、細やかな彫刻がしやすく、中部地方の灯篭や石仏によく使用されています。大きく長い形状でも採れるため、鳥居や石碑などにも使用されています。水を吸いやすいとされていますが、灯篭においては苔などがのりやすいので、庭に馴染み、石の風合いが出やすいのも特徴です。

Sennyuji-style lantern
This is a standing lantern with legs, modeled after the Yukimi Lantern at Sennyuji Temple in Kyoto. The base, fire box, and cover are all octagonal, with sturdy legs and a solid, dignified construction.
Using the Natsuyama Stone, Domestically Produced Granite
The stone used for this lantern is shiro stone from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a rare granite called "both-mica granite" containing both white and black mica. Previously, it was commonly used for lanterns and other stone sculptures due to its low cost and high quality, but it can no longer be mined. Its relatively soft texture and moss-friendly properties are also popular features.
