Implanted Lantern
This lantern was created by a craftsman from Aichi Prefecture who is skilled in carving stone lanterns. It features a unique design with attention to detail in the shade and fire box.
It is relatively small for a lantern, so it can be placed in a small garden.
Using the Natsuyama Stone, Domestically Produced Granite
The stone used for this lantern is shiro stone from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a rare granite called "both-mica granite" containing both white and black mica. Previously, it was commonly used for lanterns and other stone sculptures due to its low cost and high quality, but it can no longer be mined. Its relatively soft texture and moss-friendly properties are also popular features.
