For those who wish to always feel the presence of their loved ones nearby, desire a personalized way to connect with the departed without a specific grave, or have difficulty visiting a distant gravesite, the popular choice is "Te-Moto Kuyo" or "On-hand Memorial." It is a form of memorial that allows you to feel the presence of the deceased in your daily life.
For those who want to "memorialize their loved ones by placing them in a beautiful urn," we have created a full-sized yet easily incorporable Go-rin-to (Five-Storied Pagoda) suitable for everyday life. This is a Go-rin-to of Japanese production and the highest quality, delivered by stone craftsmen who have been involved in the production and construction of graves and the stone craftsmanship of temples and shrines for generations.

Five-Storied Pagoda Representing the Five Elements of the Universe to the Pure Land

Go-rin-to is a stone tower originating from India and has been a traditional type of tomb seen in Japanese graves for a long time. Constructed with five parts, the stone structure is based on the five major elements of Indian philosophy, representing Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void (Space) from the bottom up towards the ground. It is also said to symbolize the five parts of the human body (feet, chest, chest, face, head). By placing the remains in a Go-rin-to representing the five elements of the universe, it signifies the deceased's journey to the Pure Land.
In fact, Go-rin-to originally does not differ significantly from a typical Japanese tomb and is often built for individual graves. Due to the advanced craftsmanship required, it tends to be more expensive than a typical tomb. However, at ISHIMO, we have created an on-hand Go-rin-to with high quality at an easily accessible price.

Hand-Carved Artwork by Stone Sculpture Specialists

Crafting a small five-storied pagoda like this, which is difficult to process, requires the skills of craftsmen who excel in carving gravestones and stone Buddhas. Despite its modest height of 19 cm, each part of the Go-rin-to is delicately expressed with intricate details, which shows the artisan's high level of craftsmanship. This product is divided into two parts, with the lower part having a hole to easily accommodate bones. With matching contours on the opposite side, stability is ensured, preventing any concerns about tipping.

Hana-zawa Stone of Aichi Prefecture for Stone Sculpture

We use Hana-zawa stone, a representative of Aichi Prefecture's white granite. It is quarried from Mt. Rokusho, one of the three sacred mountains in Mikawa, located in Hanazawa-cho, Toyoda City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Mined since around the Meiji era, it has been cherished as a material for gravestones and sculptures in Aichi Prefecture.
The distinctive feature of Hana-zawa stone is its strong "adhesive" quality. With a soft and strong texture, it is ideal for stone carving. It has fine grains, low water absorption, and high durability. It is commonly used not only for gravestones but also for carved sculptures like stone Buddhas. This pagoda is finished with a calm, elegant, and soft texture that easily blends into its surroundings, even when placed indoors.
The hole for placing bones has a diameter of 45mm and a depth of 75mm, providing ample capacity. This allows not only the remains but also items cherished by the deceased to be stored. It is recommended to place the bones in a small bag or similar when storing them.

Available in Two Types: White and Black Granite

Graves vary in preferred stone colors depending on the region, such as white or black granite, so we have prepared this product in two types of stones. Both white and black granite carry the same meaning. Please choose based on your preference for the color that suits the deceased's impression or the location where it will be placed.

Custom-Made Production Available

For those who want a larger-sized pagoda or wish to have the deceased's name carved, we can accommodate additional requests on an individual basis. We also offer free consultations and quotes for other items.
