Free-standing Suspended Lantern
Originating from Shimane Prefecture, one of the many creative lanterns that emerged during the Momoyama to Edo periods. Modeled after the suspended lanterns hung under eaves. It features a simple design without a base or pole. Typically placed on rocks or similar surfaces enhances its beauty.

Using Kimachi Stone from Shimane Prefecture
The material used is Kimachi stone, produced in Shimane Prefecture. Known as the material for glazes and designated as a traditional craft product, "Izumo Stone Lantern," it has been used in the construction of stone coffins and chambers since the Kofun period in Japan. Kimachi stone, with its changing expressions over time, starts with a bluish color when quarried, gradually loses moisture, and transforms into a soft, brownish color. Even if the item is quite new, it looks like an antique. It gets moss easily.

Custom Orders Available
For those seeking lanterns of different sizes or designs, we also accept custom orders. We offer proposals tailored to your image from various types of stone and craftsmen nationwide. Estimates are free. Please feel free to consult us via the inquiry form.
