こちらのカエルに使用しているのは、愛知県岡崎市産の白石（しろいし）。白雲母と黒雲母の両方をもつ、「両雲母花崗岩」という珍しい花崗岩です。安価で品質が良い石なので、以前は灯篭などの石彫刻品に多く使われてきましたが、現在では採石できません。比較的柔らかい石質で、苔が付きやすいのも人気のポイント。
