大黒天（だいこくてん）は、日本で広く信仰されている「七福神（しちふくじん）」の一柱です。七福神とは、幸福や金運、長寿などさまざまな福をもたらすとされる七柱の神々の総称で、人々の暮らしに豊かさと安心を授ける存在として親しまれています。その中で大黒天は、特に「財運・商売繁盛・五穀豊穣」を司る神とされています。
打ち出の小槌や米俵を携えた姿は、富や実りの象徴とされ、豊かさを呼び込む存在として広く知られています。穏やかでにこやかな表情は、福を招き、良縁や繁栄へと導くと考えられており、場に落ち着きと温かさをもたらします。

愛知県産の白系御影石の代表格「花沢石（はなざわいし）」を使用。愛知県豊田市花沢町にある、三河三霊山の一つ、六所山から産出されます。明治20年頃から採掘され、愛知県では昔から墓石材・彫刻材として親しまれています。
花沢石の特徴は、石質の“粘り”の強さ。石質が柔らかく、粘りが強いことから、彫刻に最適な石材です。きめ細やかで、低吸水率で高く、耐久性があります。墓石材のほか、石仏などの彫刻物にも多く用いられています。
彫刻を手掛けたのは、愛知県岡崎市の石職人。岡崎市は、日本の石材三大産地として知られ、一流の技術を持つ石工が多いことで有名です。その中でも、数々の寺院へ石仏を納めている職人さんに、特別に製作していただきました。

This piece uses Hanazawa stone, a representative white granite from Aichi Prefecture. It is quarried from Mt. Rokusho, one of the three sacred mountains of Mikawa, located in Hanazawa-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. Mined since around 1887, it has long been a popular material for tombstones and sculptures in Aichi Prefecture.
A key characteristic of Hanazawa stone is its strong "toughness." Its soft yet tough texture makes it ideal for sculpture. It is fine-grained, has a low water absorption rate, and is highly durable. Besides tombstones, it is also widely used for sculptures such as Buddhist statues.
The sculpture was created by a stonemason from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. Okazaki City is known as one of Japan's three major stone-producing areas and is famous for having many stonemasons with top-notch skills. Among them, we had this piece specially made by a craftsman who has supplied stone Buddha statues to numerous temples.
