Snow Viewing Stone Lantern
This lantern is a replica of the Yukimi Lantern that is installed in front of the Enrindo Hall of Katsura Imperial Villa.
There are various theories about the origin of the name Yukimi Lantern, including that "the shape of the hat looks like an umbrella covered in snow" and "people enjoyed the snow-covered hat." This lantern looks even more beautiful when placed by the water.
Karatsu stone from Saga Prefecture with a rustic texture and color
Karatsu stone is an andesite quarried in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. Because it is soft and easy to carve, it was widely used for sculptures and gravestones, mainly in northern Kyushu, until around the Showa era, but nowadays it has become a rare stone material due to the spread of granite.
Karatsu stone is characterized by its subdued brownish color. The rustic texture and color that are typical of Japan give it a soft and warm impression, making it an exceptional product.
Custom Orders Available
For those seeking lanterns of different sizes or designs, we also accept custom orders. We offer proposals tailored to your image from various types of stone and craftsmen nationwide. Estimates are free. Please feel free to consult us via the inquiry form.
