The former Shoden-in Shoin is a shoin adjacent to Jo-an, one of the three most famous tea ceremonies designated as national treasures, and was the retirement home of Oda Urakusai, a feudal lord and tea master who was active during the early days of the tea ceremony.

Using Ibaraki Stone, Domestically Produced Granite

Makabe stone is a granite mined in the Makabe area of Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is a stone material used even in the Akasaka Palace and is known as a representative of Mikage stones, primarily in the Kanto region. One of the characteristics of Mikage stone is its minimal discoloration over the years. Although it has a moderate water absorption rate, it has good drainage, allowing you to enjoy its beautiful stone grain for many years. While it doesn't remain completely unchanged, its dignified appearance increases over time, and its charm deepens with use.
