京都府産の花崗岩、鞍馬石

鞍馬石は全国的な知名度を誇る京都の銘石です。
加茂七石の一つとして京都の庭園文化に深く根付いている石材です。
鞍馬から産出する本鞍馬石、丹波地方より産出する丹波鞍馬石、山梨県産の甲州鞍馬石に大別され、ISHIMOでは本鞍馬石を使用しています。
硬質で濃い茶褐色の落ち着いた色合いと、ゴツゴツした石肌が特徴です。
内部は白っぽい色をしていますが、表面は石に含まれる鉄分が酸化して鉄錆色に変化します。

古くから日本の庭園に使われる石材で、わびさびを表現するのに重要な役割を果たしてきました。
主には自然石の形のまま沓脱石・飛び石に使用したり、加工を施して手水鉢・記念碑などに使われます。



自然の石材で出来ているため、一つ一つの形や表情も異なります。

Kurama Stone, a granite from Kyoto Prefecture

Kurama stone is a famous Kyoto stone with nationwide recognition. As one of the seven Kamo stones, it is a stone deeply rooted in Kyoto's garden culture. It is broadly classified into Hon-Kurama stone (produced in Kurama), Tanba-Kurama stone (produced in the Tanba region), and Koshu-Kurama stone (produced in Yamanashi Prefecture). ISHIMO uses Hon-Kurama stone. It is characterized by its hard, dark reddish-brown color and rough texture. While the interior is whitish, the surface changes to an iron rust color due to the oxidation of iron contained in the stone. This type of stone has been used in Japanese gardens since ancient times, playing an important role in expressing the aesthetic of wabi-sabi. It is primarily used in its natural form as stepping stones or for other purposes, or processed for use in water basins or monuments.
