こちらの灯篭は、桂離宮 園林堂前に据えられた雪見灯篭を模したものです。
雪見灯篭の名前の由来は、「笠の形が傘に雪が積もったみたいだから」「雪が積もった笠を楽しんだから」など諸説あります。水辺に置くといっそう引き立つ灯篭です。
素朴な質感と色合いの佐賀県産唐津石
唐津石は、佐賀県唐津市で採石される安山岩です。やわらかく彫刻しやすいため、昭和頃までは北部九州を中心に彫刻品や墓石として広く使用されていましたが、現在では御影石の普及により珍しい石材となりました。
艶を抑えた茶色がかった色合いが唐津石の特徴です。日本らしい素朴な質感と色合いが、柔らかで温かみのある印象を与えてくれる逸品となっております。

Snow Viewing Stone Lantern
This lantern is a replica of the Yukimi Lantern that is installed in front of the Enrindo Hall of Katsura Imperial Villa.
There are various theories about the origin of the name Yukimi Lantern, including that "the shape of the hat looks like an umbrella covered in snow" and "people enjoyed the snow-covered hat." This lantern looks even more beautiful when placed by the water.
Karatsu stone from Saga Prefecture with a rustic texture and color
Karatsu stone is an andesite quarried in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. Because it is soft and easy to carve, it was widely used for sculptures and gravestones, mainly in northern Kyushu, until around the Showa era, but nowadays it has become a rare stone material due to the spread of granite.
Karatsu stone is characterized by its subdued brownish color. The rustic texture and color that are typical of Japan give it a soft and warm impression, making it an exceptional product.
